The Illinois Scholarship Transfer and Remittance (ILLISTAR) system provides a secure, paperless way for donors to submit electronic scholarship payments for students attending the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
ILLISTAR is currently available for the 2025–2026 academic year. The 2026–2027 academic year will open early next spring.
Before You Begin
To complete your electronic scholarship payment, please have the following ready:
- Your contact information
- Student’s full name and University Identification number (UIN). The student’s UIN helps us to properly apply the gift aid. If you do not have the student’s UIN, please provide their email address.
- ACH banking information (bank name, bank city/state, routing number, account number)
- Scholarship name, award amount, academic year, and term(s)
Awarding, Enrollment, and Disbursement
Once electronic payments are received, funds are applied directly to the student’s Financial Aid Notification as designated by your request.
Unless otherwise instructed, scholarships (along with all other financial aid) are disbursed only when a student is enrolled full-time, defined below:
- Undergraduate students: 12 or more credit hours
- Graduate students: 8 or more credit hours
The application allows you to specify if full-time enrollment is a requirement for payment.
OSFA will reach out to donors after the 10th day of class in the fall, spring, and summer terms if a student is enrolled less than full-time. Refunds will be issued to donors if a student does not enroll.
Processing Timeline
Scholarship funds are typically processed within one week of receipt.
Please note that processing times may be longer at the start of each semester (August and January) due to high scholarship volume.
